COVID-19 GUIDANCE IN LOCAL HEALTHCARE SETTINGS TO REMAIN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Following the end to mandatory social distancing and mask wearing in daily life on 19 July, please be advised that if you are visiting a healthcare setting such as GP surgery, community clinic or hospital, you will still be required to wear a facemask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

We are still seeing rising cases of COVID-19 in our communities and in admission to our local hospitals so despite the easing of restrictions in our daily lives, we must continue to follow a rigorous process in health and care settings to keep our patients and our colleagues safe.

Despite any changes coming into force from Monday 19 July in the communitycurrent guidance remains in place in hospitals, GP and other primary care buildings and services in central Lancashire, and will not change at this time.

Therefore, all health and social care staff, volunteers, patients and visitors will still be required to continue to follow the below:

  • HANDS: Wash hands regularly with soap and water or hand gel if hand washing facilities are not available
  • FACE: Wear a face covering in practice buildings
  • SPACE: Stay at least 2m away from people wherever possible and ensure you follow the social distancing measures in place

Thank you for helping us continue to keep our patients and staff safe during these continued challenging times.

Appointments

In recent years, the demand for appointments in general practice has increased to the point that the service is struggling to cope.

With this in mind we have reviewed our appointment system so that our patients are seen by the right person at the right time.

We have invested time in training our receptionists to become care navigators and they will be asking you for a brief description of why you need an appointment.

This does not mean they will make clinical decisions or decide whether you need an appointment. What they will be doing is sign-posting you to the most appropriate clinician or service for your needs or condition.

We still have a range of  appointments which can be booked in advance from 24 hours ahead and we also have on the day availability.

Messages can be left for a doctor or nurse, but PLEASE NOTE: these are for leaving information only. If you require to speak to a doctor or nurse, you should book a telephone consultation.

If you cannot keep your appointment, please inform the surgery as soon as possible. There are many ways to cancel appointments;

  • Tel 01772 423555 - Option 2. When the surgery is closed, there is a an option to leave a voice message, which are checked every working morning.
  • Via My GP App if registered
  • Via Patient Online Services if registered
  • When you receive a SMS text reminder, there is an option to cancel the appointment.

The attached Appointments Guide explains our appointment system further.
